Children learn to live a healthy life

PUPILS at Capenhurst CE Primary School are leading the way when it comes to keeping fit and staying healthy.

During a visit from children’s charity, MedEquip4Kid, youngsters learned about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

MedEquip4Kids’ school presenter Kay Royle spoke to the children about the charity’s education programme, Get Active with Pip, which was launched in September last year.

The initiative teaches children to be as healthy as possible with their diet, sleep and personal hygiene while also encouraging them to complete one hour of exercise every day.

Following the presentations, pupils put their new-found knowledge to the test with pen and paper activities asking friends and family to make a donation to MedEquip4Kids in return for completing the games.

A total of £37 was raised which will be spent providing hospitals and community health teams across the region with medical equipment to ensure children and babies receive the best possible treatment when sick or injured.

As a thank you, MedEquip4Kids presented the school with a Stay Active pack full of sports equipment to make sure the youngsters put what they have learned into practice.

Kay Royle said: “We are aiming to have children across the region complete 210,000 hours of exercise during this academic year and the children from Capenhurst have made sure we are well on our way to achieving that.”
