DEESIDE has seen almost 180 fewer victims of crime in the last 12 months than in the previous year.

Thanks to improvements in communication between the public and police, crime levels in the area have decreased significantly.

Deeside Neighbourhood Policing team have worked along side Flintshire County Council and Communities First, to see 176 fewer victims of crime than in the same period last year.

Police website, ‘Balance your Bobbies,’ allows residents to highlight their policing priorities and let police know what matters to them.

District Inspector Mark Hughes said: “This is a massive plus, as just one less victim of crime makes all the effort worthwhile.

“I hope this demonstrates to residents and businesses that the efforts we are making to help people feel safe and improve confidence in Deeside police are paying off.

“Local people highlighted alcohol related anti-social behaviour as a priority and in response the police organised Operation Vicarage in the Community Gardens and Somerfield Supermarket car park area of Connah’s Quay resulting in a significant drop in calls to the area.”

Inspector Hughes also said that police in Deeside will aim to improve their visibility over the next few months and to continue to target local drug dealers.
