STAFF and students at Riverside College have been spreading the adult education message at one of Widnes’s biggest employers.
Home Retail Group on Royal Avenue played host to the college which set up advice desks and a beauty and nail bar in the restaurant to demonstrate some of the part time courses starting in January.
Employees from Home Retail group were able to ask questions and apply for courses as well as have their hair, nails and makeup done during their lunch hour.
The project was set up between Riverside College and Usdaw – which is a union of shop, distributive and allied workers based at Home Retail Group, which aims to help its members to increase their skills and help them achieve their potential.
Wendy Catterall from Home Retail Group said: “The day was really successful, colleagues commented that they found the event both fun and informative and many felt inspired to look into the learning opportunities that they would not have otherwise considered.”
