ROAD users in West Cheshire are being urged to take extra care over the next 24 hours following a Met Office weather warning.
Rain edging southwards into the region is likely to freeze when it contacts sub-zero surfaces, potentially creating difficult conditions if grit already spread is washed away.
The forecast for this evening shows an increasing tendency for the rain to turn to snow.
A Cheshire West and Chester Council spokesman said: “We are working with our maintenance contractor BAM Nuttall to monitor the situation round the clock and grit in accordance with our severe weather policy.
“We would urge motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to take extra care during the difficult conditions forecast. If your journey isn’t essential, consider delaying it until conditions improve.”
