A SAVAGE attack left a victim in hospital with bruised ribs and stitches after he was beaten in a leafy Runcorn street.
Detectives said the attackers may have been trying to break in to a car on Main Street, Halton Village, moments before the vicious assault.
The thugs set upon their 36-year-old victim on a path on Pump Lane at about 7.45pm on Tuesday, January 17. Their rain of blows left the man with a sprained wrist, bruised ribs and a cut head.
He received treatment including seven stitches at Warrington Hospital and was discharged.
All three offenders were white. The first thug was in his late teens, about 5ft 11ins tall and had fair hair. He was wearing a black cap with white stripes.
The second attacker was in his late teens, about 5ft 9ins tall, dressed in black and was wearing a baseball cap.
Thug number three was in his early 20s, thin, about 6ft 1ins tall with dark hair and eyebrows. He also had a lump near his mouth on the left side of his face. He was wearing a plain black cap and a hip-length black hooded coat.
Detective Constable Nick Talbot said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or the events leading up to it, to come forward. It is believed that the offenders may have been trying to break into a car in Main Street prior to the assault.
“We would urge anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area to get in touch.”
