WHISTON Hospital is to be bailed out by the Government following its multi-million pound rebuild.
The Department Of Health (DH) announced on Friday that seven hospital trusts around England will share £1.5bn to repay the debt left over from being rebuilt using private finance initiative (PFI) credits.
Knowsley And St Helens NHS Trust, which manages Whiston, is one of the seven bodies to apply for the funding.
If granted, the cash will cover its PFI debt for the 25 remaining years.
