'If it had been spotted earlier she could have had chemotherapy to cure it.' Kelly, a single mum, is urging any other parents who have doubts about their child's health to make sure it gets checked out. She said: 'I was told there was nothing wrong with her but I could see that there was as her pupil was white in her eye. 'If any parents think there is something wrong you must check it out properly.' Since Lauren's operation Kelly has noticed a dramatic upturn in her daughter's health. She added: 'Lauren is more active now and she is leading a normal life. She's a lovely little baby.' Story continues ADVERTISEMENT Miss Newby and Lauren were recently invited to the set of Coronation Street to meet Retinoblastoma Society patron William Roche, aka Ken Barlow. Kelly thanked her family and friends for their 'amazing' support which included raising £1,500 for charity through a pub crawl in Widnes. They are now planning a fun day at the Hammer and Pincers, Hough Green, on August Bank Holiday weekend.
