MORE than 30 children were safely evacuated from a day nursery in Ellesmere Port following a kitchen fire.
Nobody was hurt in the blaze at The Oaks Day Nursery, Vale Road, Whitby, which broke out about 11.30am on Friday (February 3).
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hosereel to tackle the fire. A powerful fan was used to clear the smoke. The gas and electricity supplies were isolated.
A spokeswoman for the nursery said all 32 children were ‘absolutely fine’. They had each received a certificate and had been praised for their conduct during the evacuation.
