CYCLISTS are being offered support for a chance to take part in a charity challenge.
The Weekly News reported last week how Halton Haven Hospice and The Mark Gorry Foundation had joined forces to stage the Super Cycle Challenge, which will see would-be fundraisers covering more than 160 miles on bikes in two days.
The event will take place on June 2 and 3 and will cover the demanding Trans Pennine Trail starting at the Hull KR Stadium on Saturday morning, and finishing back at the Stobart Stadium Halton on Sunday afternoon.
Halton Haven had previously said applicants had to have a ‘good level of fitness’, but now say ‘reasonable’ is acceptable.
A spokeswoman said: “As long cyclists have a reasonable fitness level they can apply and we will provide as much support as they need with their training and preparation. We also have CNP professional sports nutrition supporting us now which we are thrilled about as they are an official supplier to British cycling and team Sky.”
