Firefighters rescue men from flood water in Crewe

12:43, Sep 27 2012

by Belinda Ryan, Crewe Chronicle

TWO men were rescued by firefighters after their van became stuck in flood water in Crewe.

Fire crews were called to Clay Lane in Haslington at 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday) when the van became trapped after the engine cut out.

The firefighters were helped by a farmer with a tractor to get into the water to get to the men.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The water had come up to the bottom of the window.

“The men were taken by ambulance to hospital as a precaution.”

The rescue took nearly 25 minutes.
