FIREFIGHTERS were called after smoke was seen pouring from the window of a flat in the centre of Ellesmere Port.
At just after 11.20am Thursday (May 3) firefighters from Ellesmere Port fire station attended a flat in Newton Road, Ellesmere Port after reports of a fire in an first floor flat.
When they arrived they noticed smoke pouring from the first floor window of the property before forcefully entering the building to extinguish the fire.
An unattended pan was found on the cooker, which is thought to have been the cause of the fire.
Smoke alarms were fitted in the flat and did activate but the property was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
