OWNERS of the former Chester Odeon are pressing ahead with plans to build a three-storey extension to serve a new single screen cinema.
Chester City Council has received planning and listed building consent applications from The Brook Group to dismantle the old backstage enclosure and replace it with an extension at the Grade II listed premises.
The application is part of a bigger scheme for which permission is not yet sought, but notes accompanying an architectural drawing reveal the extension would house ticketing offices, foyer and plant and space for a first floor cinema.
An earlier application in January, which included a 200-seater single screen cinema, was given a lukewarm reception by critics including Chester MP Christine Russell.
