Hale Village set for 20mph speed limits in residential streets

14:41, Sep 17 2012

by Oliver Clay, Runcorn and Widnes Weekly News

SPEED limits could be slashed to 20mph across most of Hale Village in a bid to encourage residents to ditch their cars on short journeys and enjoy the area by walking instead.

Hale’s ward councillor Mike Wharton and parish councillor Alison Jones back the proposals, which recently pass through consultation.

Halton Borough Council’s urban environment board met last Wednesday to consider objections and to rubber stamp the scheme’s approval in theory.

The proposal must go to the council’s executive board for full approval. No date has been set.
