MOLD Alun High School’s new headteacher is Ashley Jones.
He will take over in April from Paul Mulraney, who is retiring after 11 years in the key role.
Mr Jones, current deputy headteacher, started his teaching career in three schools in Leeds, later becoming head of mathematics at one of Cumbria’s largest schools.
He moved to the Alun as deputy head in 1992, and since then has led school improvement policies.
Recently he has overseen many of the building refurbishment projects, and has also been in charge of the Sixth Form which has grown considerably and is now the largest in Wales.
After his appointment, Mr Jones said: “I am tremendously proud to have been given the opportunity to lead the school through the next stage of its development as we seek further improvements.
“We have an excellent staff and I will work with them to ensure that we continue to provide high quality experiences for all of our students.”
