Hooded swordsman threatens staff at Castlefields shop in Runcorn

A SWORD-WIELDING robber and an accomplice threatened staff then fled empty handed from a Runcorn shop. Police said two hooded rogues clad in black burst into Costcutters in Castlefields at about 9pm last Thursday. They used the blade to threaten staff, who fled to the store’s rear. The duo then left. The first offender is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall and stocky. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT He was wearing a black jacket with a grey hood and black trousers. A black scarf covered his face. His accomplice was wearing dark clothes and blue shoes. DC Neal Davison of Runcorn CID said: “No one was injured in the incident but the staff were left shaken by their ordeal. “We take incidents of this nature very seriously and will continue to carry out enquiries.” Anyone with information should call Cheshire police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 915 of October 4.
