CHESHIRE police have been granted an extension to continue questioning a man and woman arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers discovered a male’s body at a home in Eversley Park in Chester at 8.15pm on Friday (August 31).
A 41-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder, but have not been charged.
The dead body has not been formally identified as yet, although police believe they know who the male is and say enquiries are ongoing to contact his next of kin.
The man arrested on suspicion of murder, who is of no fixed abode, was originally arrested in connection with a serious assault shortly before 5pm yesterday in the subway near the Fountain's roundabout.
A 53-year-old man, also of no fixed abode, sustained serious injuries to his wrists, hand and head from a broken bottle used during the assault and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Officers had visited the premises in Eversley Park to interview a witness as part of the investigation.
A Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman said: “Anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information concerning the incident in Eversley Park is asked to contact Cheshire Police using the 101 number quoting incident 782 of the 31st August 2012.”
