POLICE are hunting an arsonist who torched a former boxing club in Crewe.
A number of residents had to be evacuated from their homes as flames ripped through the 10m by 5m building on Mirion Street.
Two fire engines from Crewe, one from Nantwich and another from Sandbach attended the blaze which was reported just after 10.15pm last night (Thursday).
A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “A number of residents were evacuated while the fire was brought under control. They were allowed to return to their homes within an hour.”
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said it is believed the fire was started deliberately.
The disused Mirion Street building, which was razed to the ground, belonged to the Crewe and District Youth Club.
