MASKED robbers armed with a big knife made off with cigarettes and cash after they robbed a Runcorn shop say police.
Two thugs, one armed with what is believed to have been a machete, told staff to let them into Spar in Palacefields at 8.10pm on Monday, October 10, just after the store had shut.
The worker let the duo in.
One robber grabbed cigarettes and cash while the other guarded the door.
The machete-wielding thug is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall and of medium build.
He was wearing a black Balaclava, grey jacket, grey hooded top, blue trousers and black trainers.
His accomplice was slim. He was wearing dark clothes and a Balaclava.
DC Tina Jackson said: “Fortunately no-one was injured in the incident but the member of staff was left extremely shaken by the ordeal.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time and has seen anything significant, which could assist with our enquiries to come forward.
“We want to reassure local people that we take any incidents of this nature extremely seriously and will do all we can to trace those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice.”
A 19-year-old man has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident.
