Reward of £30,000 offered in Widnes victim murder probe

A £30,000 reward is on offer for information relating to a suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a Widnes father-of-three. Detectives want to talk to Speke man Christie O’Connor, 27, over the killing of Wayne Basnett of Hough Green. A gunman shot Mr Basnett dead on Pepper Street in Hale shortly after midnight on December 22, 2010. Co-accused Michael Eves has been charged with murder and is awaiting trial in Jan 2013. An appeal for O’Connor’s whereabouts aired on BBC Crimewatch last night. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT A Cheshire police spokeswoman said: “O’Connor has links to Liverpool, Spain, Holland and other European countries. “He is 6ft tall, of proportionate build with blue eyes, and has a Liverpool accent. “There is a reward of up to £30,000 available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of O’Connor. “Anyone with any information should contact Cheshire police on 0845 458 0000 quoting Operation Tee.”
