POLICE have warned Runcorn and Widnes motorists to steer clear of certain areas of Cheshire due to road closures.
A constabulary spokeswoman said these include roads near the Trent And Mersey Canal in Dutton.
She said drivers should also avoid Middlewich areas around the Trent And Mersey Canal,
Northwich town centre around the Bull Ring, New Road in Winsford, Higham Avenue and surrounding areas in Warrington and Park Lane in Bollington.
The spokeswoman said: “Due to continual heavy rain across the region overnight, parts of Cheshire have been subject to flooding and some of the counties roads have become impassable.
“There has been no requirement to evacuate any residents at this stage.
“Cheshire police and other emergency services are working hard to ensure the safety of the communities and road users, and urge motorists to only embark upon journeys that are absolutely necessary as driving conditions become increasingly difficult.”
She added: “Residents are asked to check on the welfare of any elderly neighbours or relatives in the areas affected by the localised flooding, and to regularly tune into local radio and television news for important updates.”
