South Cheshire care service recruiting 50 new workers

08:27, Mar 16 2010

by Andrew Bowan, Crewe Chronicle

FIFTY care workers are being recruited in South Cheshire.

The Crewe office of Home Instead Senior Care is taking on up to 50 more caregivers to assist them to meet the increasing demand for at-home care for adults across the area.

Dawn and Russell Sime, who own and manage the Crewe office, say that demand for their service, which provides care for adults in their own homes, is incredibly high and more caregivers are urgently required.

Opportunities are available to work in Crewe, Nantwich, Sandbach, Alsager and surrounding areas.

Dawn said: “We have people requiring care right now and so we are very keen to encourage more local people to consider a career in caring.

“For people with no experience, we provide a full training programme - so anyone interested in working in the sector should get in touch.”

‘Janet’, a mother of two, did just that and became a Home Instead caregiver last year.

She says, “For me, it’s perfect. I can do the hours I want and fit them in around my family commitments. It’s interesting work because I get out and about in the community and I love the fact that I visit the same clients regularly because I can get to know them. It makes a huge difference to clients and makes my job very rewarding.”

As the UK’s population ages, the need for care services is increasing.

l Recent figures show that by 2025 there will be over 13 million people in the UK aged over 65, many of whom will require care.

Home Instead’s services is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, medication reminders, shopping and errands.

The service allows people to remain at home and lead a relatively independent life and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
