Couples flock to dogging hot spots

Weekly News

KINKY couples are flocking to beauty spots in Halton and North Cheshire to watch each other having sex.

And since the revelations that former England football star Stan Collymore enjoyed seedy sexual encounters at 'dogging' sites, increasing numbers are visiting Delamere Forest and Spike Island under cover of darkness to get their kicks.

The two locations - popular attractions for families with children - are both recommended by a 'swingers' website.

The dogging phenomenon grew out of wife-swapping parties and involves exhibitionist sex with strangers in semi-secluded areas often with an audience of voyeurs looking on.

Sites in Halton and North Cheshire are popular because good motorway links with the rest of the country mean dedicated doggers can travel from Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham.

Some participants organise meetings over the Internet with arrangements made by e-mail or text messaging.

One website, recommending a spot near Delamere Station tells doggers: 'You get some good dogging from couples there mainly on Friday evenings.'

Another says of Spike Island: 'Very nice for dogging - some nice action there.' Police officers have warned doggers they could face prosecution if they are caught but Inspector Geoff Williams of Cheshire Police said: 'Whether we intervene depends on whether we receive a complaint. If there's no real problem we might not necessarily get involved.'

The term 'dogging' comes from the excuse most often used when participants are caught out or challenged - they claim they were 'walking the dog'.
