O'Malleys murder trial 'by the end of the year'

THE family of a couple murdered in Spain said last night they expect to see the alleged killers in court within months. Anthony and Linda O'Malley died almost three years ago, days after flying out to Benidorm to look for a holiday home. Detectives believe the couple were kidnapped and forced to empty their bank accounts before they were killed and their bodies dumped. Fears were raised at the weekend that delays within the Spanish legal system meant the case would never see the light of day. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT But Bernard O'Malley said he still expected the two South Americans accused of murdering his brother and sister-inlaw to stand trial. He said: "We expect the trial to go ahead certainly before the end of the year. "That is the information we have been given and there is no reason for us to think otherwise. "Much has been made of the fact that under Spanish law those awaiting trial cannot be detained for more than four years.
