Pupil ready for wizard new television role

TALENTED entertainer Tom Hewson gets his big television break in a new children's reality show devoted to real-life Harry Potters. Tom, a Year 7 pupil at Rudheath High School, was picked from more than 3,000 eager young hopefuls to star in the show which opens on the CBBC channel on Monday. The series is set in a magic academy especially set up for the purpose and viewers will be able to follows Tom's adventures as he gets to grips with an array of amazing tricks and the honour of becoming a Sorcerer's Apprentice. Kids channel CBBC is tapping into the popularity of Harry Potter and sorcery with a show that sees youngsters battle it out to become magicians. Viewers will see how Tom and the other aspiring magicians cope with lessons in magic and folklore, Latin, chemistry, card tricks and the art of illusion.
