RISK-TAKING offenders who have scaled the Silver Jubilee Bridge and posted pictures of their exploits on the internet are being hunted by Halton police. The Weekly News has revealed to police that a website - www.28dayslater.co.uk - contains a forum with a series of photographs taken in the dead of night when the culprits have climbed the structure in bad weather without safety gear. The prank was staged despite signs warning that climbing on the bridge is a criminal offence. One of the offenders, who describes himself as an 'urban explorer', boasts how he had returned from a night out having consumed 'a few beers' and was e-mailed by an associate, SL, who suggested 'Let's do it tonight'. He describes how they parked some distance from the bridge and then made a 'tricky ascent'. He says: 'It didn't take too long, but I was wary about being spotted. Silly really, as it was dark, wet and horrible.' Inspector Richard Hill of Halton police said that an investigation was under way and he appealed for residents to reveal who the offenders are. He said: 'I have looked at the website and we are trying to find the identity of the person who posted these pictures. 'The bridge must be 200ft-odd high and is very dangerous. 'Anyone who goes on there, such as engineers, have to use the proper safety equipment. 'But if someone falls off there, it is almost certain death. 'In the past we've dealt with these people under public order legislation because we have to close the bridge to traffic and that causes infrastructure and local economic problems.
