A CHEERLEADING group is urging supporters to turn the town black and white to show their support for Widnes Vikings.
Youngsters from the Vikings Starlites dance group are calling on residents and businesses to decorate their windows in the team's colours as the Vikings make their bid for Superleague status with only a couple of games to go.
The Starlites, whose members range in age from three to 17, launched their campaign with a performance at the recent Vikings v. Castleford Tigers match.
The girls had spent four days at a summer camp in the fitness centre at the Halton Stadium where they rehearsed up to seven routines from the hit musical Grease before picking one to perform on the pitch before the game.
THE team's youngest member, Ellie Walsh-O'Neill, three, and her sister Rossi, seven, came up with the idea for the supporters' campaign.
Their mum, Helen, said: 'We went to the museum and talked to Steve McCormack about how the fans used to turn the town black and white to show support.
'The girls thought it would be a way of appealing for the fans to get behind the team. We've got a big black and white 'W' in our window.
'On the night the Starlites did a brilliant performance of Grease Is The Wo rd . What they managed to learn in such a short space of time was fantastic. The kids really enjoyed it.'
