WIDNES singing legend Johnnie Rocco made his long-awaited appearance on The X Factor last Saturday – and caused a sensation by giving judge Louis Walsh a dressing down. The Weekly News has reported on Johnnie’s exploits in the competition – including his showdown with Walsh – and fans have been waiting with bated breath for the episode to air. The world was finally introduced to Widnes’ best-kept secret last Saturday when the audition was televised. Johnnie said on the show: ‘I want to do open-air concerts. ‘I can do two-and-a-half hours, sing and dance around and don’t even breath heavy. ‘I’ll make Louis Walsh absolutely kiss my feet.’ When Johnnie was asked by the judges why he was there, he said: ‘Because I think I’ve got the X factor and I’m a brilliant singer.’ He then delivered a rendition of Elvis’ Always On My Mind. After the performance Walsh said: ‘You’re a great entertainer but you’re a pub entertainer.’ Johnnie hit back: ‘No, you’re joking. I can’t believe it. I’ve got to say this – you’re talking stupid! ‘I’m a pub singer? You don’t even know what you’re talking about!’ The panel then voted ‘no’, with Johnnie delivering a parting shot at Walsh: ‘Remember the name, Johnnie Rocco. I’m going to prove you wrong.’ Judge Sharon Osbourne said: ‘You sound like a Mafia hitman. Louis, you’re messing with the wrong man!’ Johnnie had the last word on the show, saying to the camera: ‘Louis Walsh, how dare you say I can’t sing. I’m the legend, Johnnie Rocco!’ |
