ROWING: NORTHWICH'S 1st eight finished among the fastest overseas crews at the Galway Head of the River and were confident of performing well at Saturday's scheduled Head on the River Thames - only for the event to be cancelled due to high winds.
Northwich's junior squad also made the journey down to London last week to compete in the Schools Head of the River, over the Boat Race course.
Their eight finished 18th in category in a time of 18mins 48secs.
The club's 16s finished 12th in the quads in 20.02 and the women's four timed 22.56, finishing 9th in category. Competing on the shorter course, the women's 15 quad were 12th in 10.23, but the women's 16s failed to start after damaging their boat.
