VICS suffered their eighth straight Blue Square Premier defeat at the Shay under new caretaker manager Paul Warhurst, who has taken over from departed manager Neil Redfearn.
The Yorkshiremen were far superior for most of the game and built up a commanding 3-0 lead through Jon Shaw (33 and 36 minutes) and Lewis Killeen (50).
Changes which saw Mike Byrne and Josh Wilson introduced improved matters and Barnsley loanee Mike Coulson pulled a goal back after 61 minutes.
Even so, there remained a lack of co-ordination and skill in the Northwich team and the player who really earned his corn was defiant goalkeeper Ben Connett.
Consolation for Vics were defeats for the league’s three other leading relegation candidates Stafford Rangers, Droylsden and Altrincham on the same night.
