Manager Redfearn retired after 70 minutes as he rung the changes and Rochdale took the opportunity to go ahead through Kallum Higginbottom, although trialist Dino Maamria came near to saving Vics’ unbeaten pre-season record in the last minute.
The Northwich manager said: “There were many plusses, with new full-back Mark Birch outstanding.
“It looks like we shall be playing 3-5-2 and I’m convinced we’re going to be okay,” he added.
