A LONE goal victory over Greenall Padgate St Oswald’s has taken Styal to joint top in the First Division of the Cheshire Building Society Cheshire Association League. Styal are level with Middlewich Town on 16 points thanks to Dave Graham’s goal.
Pilkington dropped to fourth when they were beaten 4-2 at Gamesley. Graham Boylan and Andy Smith twice put the St Helens side ahead, only for the Derbyshire club to reply through Gaz Baker, Brian Ainsworth, Danny Oakes and Chris Gordon.
Rylands registered their first win thanks to a fine free-kick goal by Peter Slavin at Knutsford, while Garswood United were 1-0 winners at Trafford, thanks to Mike Scully’s fine effort.
Promoted Curzon Ashton Reserves scored hit a 4-0 midweek win at Stalybridge Celtic Reserves and followed up with a 2-2 draw against Woodley Sports.
In Division Two, Golborne Sports won a thriller 5-4 at Crewe FC, while Maine Road Reserves hammered seven at Daten where Ryan Baldwin notched a hat-trick.
Billinge made progress with a 2-0 home win against Congleton Town Reserves. Danny Martin and Mark Tickle scored.
Warrington Town Reserves notched their second 4-0 win in eight days at Monk Sports, their marksmen being Owen Ellis, Ryan Crawford, Chris Moores and Andy Poole.
In the Reserve Division, Styal stayed top with a 4-0 victory over Golborne Sports to give them a maximum 18 points from six games.
