Producing a smash hit

Feb 16 2007

The Chronicle

Cory English and John Gordon Sinclair will play Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom in the smash hit Mel Brooks musical The Producers in Manchester next week.

They will be joining Peter Kay as Roger DeBris at the Manchester Palace Theatre for 12 weeks from February 19-May 12.

Cory English comes direct to the tour from playing the leading role of Max in the West End. His other West End credits include the recent revival of Guys and Dolls and Chicago.

On Broadway he has appeared in Gypsy, Damn Yankees, Hello Dolly! and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

John Gordon Sinclair is probably best known for his BAFTA nominated performance in the film Gregory's Girl.

In the West End he has appeared on stage in the musical She Loves Me, for which he won a Laurence Olivier Award and most recently played Leo Bloom

in The Producers.

His other West End credits include Ben Elton's Gasping and Steven Poliakoff's Sweet Panic.

Down-on-his-luck theatrical producer Max Bialystock (Cory English) and his hapless accountant, Leo Bloom (John Gordon Sinclair), hatch the ultimate theatrical scam: to raise more money than they need to produce a sure-fire Broadway dis-aster... and then pocket the left-over cash when the show flops.

Who do they turn to? The world's worst director, of course, Roger DeBris (Peter Kay).

Their guaranteed-to-fail fiasco? Springtime for Hitler - the musical! uTickets are on sale now - ring 0871 677 0000 or visit www.ticketmaster.co.uk
