A DATE in a recording studio awaits the winner of a music competition.
Budding musicians in Ellesmere Port and Neston are asked to compete by composing a piece of music which will be heard across the county for September's Step into Cheshire event.
Young people between the ages of 11 and 16 are urged to write the anthem or song for the weekend of September 18 and 19, when Cheshire's countryside and outdoor activities will be celebrated.
And the winning composition will not only be professionally recorded but will also be played at the various events.
County council chairman Barrie Hardern, who is also chairman of the Step into Cheshire event, said: 'We would like young people to compose a score which they believe captures Cheshire's unique character.
'The piece of music should be no more than two minutes in length and the winner will not only receive £50 worth of CD vouchers but also have the opportunity to have their song recorded.
'Entries can either be submitted as a basic score of melody which may include lyrics and chord sequences or as a recording on CD, mini disc or cassette.
'I am sure all the entries will show the diversity and culture of our great county and fit in extremely well with all our events, which include walking, cycling and horse riding.'
The closing date for entries is this Friday, and they should be sent to Sharon Hall, Arts Officer, Cheshire County Council, Goldsmith House, Hamilton Place, Chester, CH1 1SE.
