Recently visited Northwich with the family: tried Guilio's Italian restaurant. Recently opened, and quiet when we visited: it doesn't deserve to be. Tasty food, including a risotto - a bit unusual in restaurants; staff friendly and efficient. Varied menu from pizza and pasta to a decent range of fish and meat dishes. Would go back when we visit again.
I took friends for a meal to The Cheshire Cat on Saturday 14th April, what a awful meal out of four meals two had what could only be described as instant mash ,and the scampi was mush in soggy breadcrumbs with a limp garnish of lettuce already covered in a dressing.
When i complained no one seemed to care and the waitress and the so called person in charge just shrugged their shoulders. We were not the only people complaining
We eat at the Helsby Arms regularly and for 'Pub Food' the standard is secomd to none. The choice and quality of food is excellent. This is not a restaurant it is a pub providing the best quality food and wine/ale in the local area. The Helsby Arms is now a none smoking pub but provides an outside smoking area with seating and tables. The staff are the most friendly I have come across in this area (including Chester) and I highly recommend trying it for yourself and not rely on the inaccurate review of the Chronicle 'food critic'

We recently visited the Morris Dancer in Kelsall, it has just changed owners (formally The Olive Tree) and I have to say we won't be returning in a hurry. The service was very slow - over an hour for 2 main courses, they had no credit card facility due to the recent change of ownership and two items on the menu were not avialble. Then at the end of the meal, we had been charged double, as they had duplicated the receipt. This was corrected once we pointed out the mistake. The surroundings were nice, although it lacked in atmosphere. The food was good when it eventually came - just not very warm. Overall we were hoping for something much better.

Had a meal recently at Brasserie 10-16. Whilst the food was ok, I was not impressed by the way everyone was greeted, i.e. Hi guys, even when being asked if all ok it was everything ok with your meals guys....not for me I am afraid. Call me old fashioned, but it is not the way to impress your customers.

Great to see a web site with reviews of restaurants outside of London. Just a pity that you cannot SEARCH these by location !

The Morris dancer Restaurant in Kelsall
This was the nicest meal we have had in and around the Chester and Delemere area in years. Food quality, service and value for money was excellent.
The Staff are the extremely helpful friendly.
I would recommend anyone to visit The Morris Dancer

I have just asked for a refund for a pitiful pasta meal at the Plough in Christleton and was spoken to by the duty manager so rudely that I fully intend to contact the brewery. Apparently the fairly well piled standard pasta bowl with a tomato sauce and cheese, which had cost us £17.50 was supposed to feed 3. When we queried very politely if there had been a mistake we were kept waiting and then spoken to in arrogant brief sentences , including

bollicini - top notch italian cuisine and gorgeous cocktails in delicious surroundings. Great place for lunch with the girls - sipping wine on the terrace in this gorgeous weather. It is a fun, lively bar, but the separate restaurant area make it lovely for quiet meals

After many meals at The Plough Inn Christleton i dined there recently and was very dismayed at the way things had changed ,staff were trying to calm ruffled feathers as several customers did not appear happy The meal was pureed vegatables with lamb very tastless i left wondering what had gone wrong as things were looking up with new tenants who i understood wanted cask ale and good food
distinct lack of beer
Try it yourselves
the best place i have eaten is the egerton on the bache chester oposite the countess of chester hospital, great food, cheap at the price, and very welcoming, service is brilliant, and not lonmg to wait either. the worst place is the wheatsheaf in upton, if you like to chew on yourt food and wait for ever to get served, this is the place for you, over the top prices aswell, terrible.

I wanted somewhere special for a suprise 60th Birthday Party for my husband.I chose the MillPool Restaurant, Oulten Mill Lane, Oulten. We had been there quite a few times, and had always enjoyed a very good, reasonably price meal.I could not have chosen a better venue, Paul (who I think is the owner/manager)was very accommodating considering I wanted the party on a Sunday Evening for approximatly 40 people.Paul put together a very varied menu,a choice of three Starters, two main courses which I chose myself and I don't remember how many puddings except there where more than three. One guest who's special dietary need I had not taken into account was quickly served an alternative without any fuss or wringing of hands!.It turned out to be a complete success, everybody played their part in keeping the Party a secret, but most of the praise and credit must go to Paul and his excellent attentive staff, who looked after us.
Your review on the Boat House at Erbistock was like De ju vu, I took my sister there for her Birthday 2yrs ago we were treated with total appathy, and after eventually having our main course we decided to go to the Cross Foxes just down the road for our sweets and coffee. We wished we had gone there in the first place, the menu was as extensive but most importantly of all the staff were attentive and efficient.
We recently went out to Dinner at the Golden Lion in Rossett,it's years since I've dined there so I did'nt know what to expect, a friend had made the recommendation, but that's not always anything to go by, it was wonderful, a good varied menu, which anyone would find difficult to fault. Keen attentive staff, who served an excellent meal with aplomb!
