Two railway stations are on the right track

Feb 6 2008

by Jane Matzen, Mid Cheshire Chronicle

TWO railway stations in Vale Royal have won awards in the Cheshire Best Kept Stations Competition.

The awards were presented at Northwich Salt Museum by former BBC journalist and presenter Felicity Goodey, chairman of the Cheshire’s Year of Gardens steering group, the main sponsors of the event.

Helsby railway station won the Best Kept Gardens Award and Frodsham won the Vale Royal Borough Council Award. Both stations are tended by volunteers from the North Cheshire Rail Users Group.

John Hulme, competition organiser, said: “What makes our competition a real winner is the enthusiasm of Cheshire people.”
